The following is an exurpt from "Who's Who in Houppelande, 594 ER" Deathstalker Gadlen J. Chimeran Gadlen is originally from Crookhaven-on-the-Bay, in the semi-independant Hobling Shire of Houppelande, on the continent Minami. (what continent is Ashbury on?). He comes from a great line of ungreat people: miners fisherhoblings, farmers, thieves, even some librarians in the great Centenary Collegium. Some of his noteworthy relatives are: Uncle "Vinnie" Vinchiano hOopaloen(the "O" is pronounced light a sudden, high pitched musical note)- He never made it very far in the Crookhaven-on-the-Bay's Rogue'g Guild despite his, often funny, miserable attempts. "Don't be like my uncle Vinne" can be taken as "Don't blow up the box/ trip the trap etc.. Sister Gux Unfada- It is said that in one local dialect, this can be roughly translated as "Tall, short haired female Hobling that doesn't have a firm grasp of modern farming techniques but none-the-less is an excellent auctioneer." She grew up to be a short Hobling that took well to farming radishes near Hafhym. Godfather The- Actually quite a pleasant man that helped raise Gadlen for some years after both parents died their final death in a bizarre, freak, odd, crazy, unexplainable, never-before-seen accident with a ficus tree, three evergreens and an ox. The ox survives to this day. In Crookhaven-on-the-Bay, Gadlen had been making a name for himself in political circles. Although he was not in The Council of the Guilds, his words held great sway with virtually all of the members. By some rights it was said that he was "powerful". A review from one of his supporters,"Mr. Chimeran's cool attitude and demeaner lend an air of authentisity and honor to the whole proceedings. He helps bind the Council together, always working hard and hearing everyone's views before giving his own." One of his detractors writes,"Mr. Chimeran is more than a nuisance, he is invading the sanctity of the Council, pushing and prodding his own agenda and getting his way far too often. He isn't even a guildmaster! I fear his cold, contemptable attitude is just a front for his real desires. What they are, only he knows." --------------------------------- This is from the Guildsmaster of the Council of the Guilds. This is not published information but he will tell anyone that asks. "Unknown to most, Gadlen had a tremendous power over the guildlings. He had blackmailed and bribed almost every one of them, although he covered his tracks so that no court would ever convict him. He had done it so smoothly that the victims hardly noticed themselves, vehemently denying any allegations and only playing his aces when he knew the other aces were buried deep in the deck. For example, when a guildsman was short 2 gold, he'd always make the loan for a favor. He once stopped a disliked excavation project by "innocently" mentioning
